How do I consign items with The Shelter Second Circle?

To consign items with The Shelter or taylor for The Second Circle Sale, bring your item/s into your nearest taylor or Shelter store (see locations here). Fill out a consignment form, from there your items will be sent to HQ for appraisal.

If you don't live near a store, or live in Australia, you can courier your items to The Shelter HQ. Please download a consignment form here, before sending at your cost to the address below.

Who determines the pricing?

Our dedicated stock and workroom team will price your pieces. Our prices are the result of careful research and industry experience. The prices reflect market value, demand and condition.

What brands do you accept?

We don’t like to be prescriptive in terms of saying what we can and can’t take as this is quite a wide selection. We do however, want all our items to be high quality and last. As a rule of thumb, we will not accept fast fashion brands. We will accept any brand we have stocked at The Shelter, past or present and a range of NZ and international designer brands.

For example, but not limited to: Rick Owens, Kate Sylvester, Karen Walker, Jil Sander, Prada, Juliette Hogan, Comme des Garçons, Paris Georgia and more.

Do you wash or mend pieces?

We do not wash, dry-clean or mend items on your behalf. Please ensure items are freshly washed, dry-cleaned and aired out before bringing them into your closest store or sending them for appraisal.

When will I hear back from The Shelter about the offered price?

The Shelter team will be in touch within 7 days of receiving your items in our HQ with the determined price. From here you will have 48 hours to accept or decline the offered price.

If you don’t reply to our price offer email within the required 48 hours, the offer will automatically be accepted. You will then be emailed to confirm this and contacted post sale with the outcome of your sold or unsold items.

What will I earn from selling my item/s in the sale?

All item/s supplied by you to The Shelter are on consignment. The commission earned by you will be calculated on the final sale price for all item/s sold, after GST (15%)

Consignors have two options for payment on item/s

·50% of value in the form taylor / The Shelter voucher to spend on their next purchase. (after GST

·40% of value as cashback (after GST)

What if I don’t want the item/s after declining the price?

If you decide not to accept the price from The Shelter, but don’t want to collect the item/s either, we can arrange for donation to charity on your behalf.

What happens if my pieces don’t sell in the sale?

If your item/s don’t sell in the sale between 16 - 18th May, we will notify you by email after the sale ends. We will arrange for the item/s to be ready for collection at your nearest The Shelter or taylor store. Items will be held for 7 days, and if not collected within this time frame, will be donated to charity on your behalf.

If you aren’t close to a store location, we will arrange for postage at your expense.

How do I collect my credit / voucher?

Once your item has been sold, our team will send you a unique voucher code to use under your nominated email address. You can then use this voucher in-store or online.

If my item/s sell in the sale, what can I use my voucher on?

You can use your Second Circle Voucher on any items at The Shelter and taylor. This includes both international and local brands. It is exclusive of sale items and cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer (10% off new client, loyalty points voucher)

How can I shop The Shelter Second Circle?

The Shelter Second Circle is an archival recycle pop-up for one weekend only at The Shelter Auckland store, 78 Mackelvie Street, Ponsonby. The sale will run from Friday 16th - Sunday 18th of May.

If you are outside of Auckland, keep an eye on social media channels to purchase over the phone.

Do I earn loyalty points on items I purchase in The Shelter recycle?

You won’t earn any The Shelter x taylor loyalty points on items purchased in the recycle.

What payment types are available during The Second Circle?

Eftpos, credit card and Afterpay are available during the Second Circle. Store credit, loyalty vouchers, vouchers or in-store laybuys cannot be used on items purchased in the sale.

Can I return any item purchased in The Shelter Second Circle?

All Second Circle items are final sale, they cannot be returned or exchanged.

Can someone collect my unsold pieces on my behalf?

You are welcome to send someone to collect items being returned from The Shelter, however you must let our team know the nominated persons name in advance so we can put a note on your account. We will not let any unauthorised person collect.
