taylor’s new collection ‘Motion, Space and Form’ explores linear folding shapes with sharp angles where structure meets drape.

This season we drew upon inspiration from the set design of the new work “As it Stands” by Ross McCormack commissioned for The Auckland Art festival 2019, and combined it with American Artist Joel Shapiro’s geometric abstraction of the human form.

The new collection explores movable and changing rectangular shapes and geometric volumes of shapes created by the longitude and lateral sides of these structures. There is a subtle juxtaposition between assembled structure and gentle fluidity wrapping around the form. Three dimensional elements collide with straight linear elements which fall effortlessly into softly draped cowls in clever configurations around the body.

Contemplating the dynamic strength which can be achieved in exploring right-angled form, Motion, Space & Form is designed with asymmetrical hemlines and seamed divisions which thoughtfully dissect the form. Opaque and sheer panelling converge allowing an elegant glimpse of silhouette, whilst pointed angles and overlapping shapes form intriguing yet wearable pieces.

Beautiful exclusive Italian wool and mohair coatings bring artful form to fruition. Dreamy supple alpaca blend knits balance hard-edge lustrous metallic fabrications, thoughtfully playing with warm and cool, hard and soft winter dressing. A custom palette and signature taylor prints on luxe silk fabrications feature throughout in both beautiful brique and cool crystalline hues. A perfect foundation for inspired Winter 20 styling.

The collection will be landing in all taylor stores, The Shelter and selected stockists nationwide from February 2020.
