Say hello to Sarah, our fabulous Christchurch Store Manager and meet Janette and Katie who complete our beautiful Christchurch team. Filled with expert styling advice and knowledge, if you have any outfit questions or are simply in need of a wardrobe refresh, make sure you come in and say hi to these friendly faces. Read on to discover Sarah, Janette and Katie's interests, signature styles, and favourite taylor pieces for the season.

MEET SARAH:

WHO ARE YOU AND HOW DID YOU COME TO WORK AT TAYLOR?
Sarah: As a child who felt the need to change my outfits at least three times a day, to studying fashion design, to designing and making bespoke jewellery, I have landed in a place that enables me to utilise all I have learnt through this time.

For a period of time I worked for a fashion label in Melbourne and whenever a super stylish New Zealander was ever in store they would inevitably be wearing taylor.

One day a new stylist was hired who had previously worked with taylor in Auckland so of course we got chatting about all things kiwi and as I was moving back to NZ she thought I should introduce myself to taylor and the rest is history.

WHAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT WORKING FOR TAYLOR?
Sarah: The incredible people I get to see and talk to every day! Not only our wonderful clients who are such a joy to work with, but the design team, the workroom team, the marketing team and the retail team who all work together to create the amazing taylor family. And for purely selfish reasons… being surrounded by such fabulous design and curated international brands feeds my soul on a daily basis. I am very lucky!

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR SIGNATURE STYLE?
Sarah: All who know me will appreciate my love for a dark layered aesthetic and an amazing shoe. Texture is my colour so you will find me wearing black silk styles layered over wool suiting pants with a strong tailored jacket or coat worn over to offer elongation to my look. I love an outfit that can take me to work, to an evening out and even a yoga class by a simple change of shoes. And as the final layer, my favourite Neandertal fragrance Us is gently applied through out the day for an easy refresh.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVOURITE PIECES FROM OUR LATEST COLLECTION?
Sarah: So many…. But the Convene Tunic is my absolute go to, worn simply with an Inherent Slip and Rick Owens Elefant Sneaks or layered over an Undone Tunic, the Lined Ozone Pant and the Revered Capacity Coat.

WHERE DO YOU LOOK TO FOR INSPIRATION?
Sarah: I am continually inspired by the amazing women I get to work with every week, Janette and Katie. Not only am I able to see the taylor brand work with our own different personalties and styles but also love how easily these designs work between our three generations. Age is no barrier to amazing style and inspiration.

WHERE WOULD WE FIND YOU WHEN YOU ARE NOT STYLING AMAZING OUTFITS IN STORE?
Sarah: Having recently discovered my love for yoga, you will find me at least 4 days a week enjoying a class at Flow Hot Yoga. Usually I am dashing to a class after a day at work so having the Equivalent Hoodie Cardi or Display Hoodie with my yoga gear offers me the best pieces to get between work and the studio.

MEET JANETTE

WHO ARE YOU AND HOW DID YOU COME TO WORK FOR TAYLOR?
Janette: I’m Janette. Fashion is my passion and has been all my working life, with an ever changing style. I love the taylor designs and had been following them for a while before applying for my current position. My almost 4 years with taylor has just flown by, and I’m lucky enough to be able to be a part of a small, professional team that’s dedicated to providing our customers with personal and fun experiences.

WHAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT WORKING FOR TAYLOR?
Janette: The excitement of wearing and presenting each new collection to our clients in Christchurch. Seeing the smiles on their faces when they try on and take home something just a little bit different from what they’ve been used to. And receiving the pieces I’ve chosen for myself and wearing them each season.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR SIGNATURE STYLE?
Janette: Black is my go-to colour and layering is my style. I have always loved layering and with the taylor range it’s just so very easy. There’s no right or wrong way and with taylor’s styles, the options are endless. I keep learning and love seeing how my colleagues give our clients different looks.

WHERE WOULD WE FIND YOU WHEN YOU ARE NOT STYLING AMAZING OUTFITS IN STORE?
Janette: For the last few months, I’ve been out in the Cashmere Hills and Bridle Path and Rapaki Tracks with my husband, training for our first real tramping experience on the Milford Track in February. Totally different to working out in the gym, but I think we’re ready. Very excited! If I’m not out there or in the gym exercising, I’ll find a balance with food shopping so I can have fun times in the kitchen trying out new recipes – currently following Ottolenghi and a couple of others.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVOURITE PIECES FROM OUR LATEST COLLECTION?
Janette: I absolutely adore my Raw Edge Scope Coat and Distil Jacket. They both work brilliantly with so many pieces, not just from the current range but also with past pieces from taylor. It’s all in the length and detailing, with flexibility to dress them up or down. They’re my perfect coat and jacket to go over everything - even my gym gear for when I grab coffee with my friends.

MEET KATIE

WHO ARE YOU AND HOW DID YOU COME TO WORK AT TAYLOR?
Katie: I am a young wāhine leader, thinker and creative. I came to taylor during my time as a student at the University of Canterbury and my taylor income essentially funded the coffee and food I needed to get through student life. I’ve since graduated and started working at the university but taylor is still a creative paradise for me to “actively relax” amongst amazing textiles and design.

WHAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT WORKING FOR TAYLOR?
Katie: As you can probably tell from this blog post - OUR TEAM! I’m so grateful for Sarah and Janette. They are really important role models for me. Every moment shared with them is a reminder to be unapologetically yourself. They are fearless women that I want to be like! When we, as a team, can also inspire our clients to express themselves freely after a styling session - that’s the best thing.

WHERE DO YOU LOOK TO FOR INSPIRATION?
Katie: Art has always been a source of inspiration for me. It’s what I frequently turn to, to feel grounded, energised and inspired. Christchurch has an amazing art community and a weekend spent exploring the galleries of the Arts Centre leaves me inspired for a new week.
